Blockwright Wallet — Terms of Use
The agreement between you and us about Blockwright Wallet. What happens to information is in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
By installing or using Blockwright Wallet you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the application.
The short version
- Blockwright Wallet is non-custodial. Only you hold the keys.
- If you lose your recovery phrase, your money is gone permanently. We cannot get it back. Nobody can. Section 6.
- Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed. A mistake is permanent.
- Nothing here is financial advice, and we never take custody of your funds.
- The application is free, and we take no fee on your transactions.
01What these terms cover
The Blockwright Wallet mobile application, and nothing else. The Privacy Policy forms part of them.
02Who can use Blockwright Wallet
You may use the application if:
- You are at least 16 years old, or older where your own law requires it.
- You are not barred from using it by any law or sanctions regime that applies to you.
- You have not previously been banned by us for a breach of section 4.
The application is offered worldwide. Cryptocurrency is restricted or prohibited in some countries, and we do not advise you on whether you may lawfully use it where you are. That determination is yours.
03What you can expect from us
- Software that does what it says. What the application does with your keys and your data is set out in the privacy policy, and you can check that from the outside — by the network it uses.
- No custody, ever. We will not hold, move, freeze or take a share of your funds at any moment, including briefly.
- No fee on your transactions. Networks charge a fee to process a transaction; that fee goes to the network. We add nothing to it.
- No hidden data collection. If that ever changes, this document changes first, with notice, as described in section 11 of the Privacy Policy.
- Honest status. We say what is released and what is not, with version numbers rather than promises.
We do not promise that the application will be available, uninterrupted or free of defects. See section 9.
04Your commitments to us
In return, you agree that:
- 1You are responsible for your recovery phrase. Write it down, keep it offline, keep it secret. Section 6 is the whole of this arrangement.
- 2You are responsible for your device, including its lock screen and its security updates.
- 3You will check every recipient address before sending. Transactions cannot be reversed.
- 4You will use the correct network for each transfer. Sending an asset over the wrong network can destroy it.
- 5You will not use the application for anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do so.
- 6You will not attack the application or the services it relies on, attempt to gain unauthorised access to anything, or interfere with its operation.
- 7You will not impersonate us, or claim an endorsement or association you do not have.
05Permissions you give us
Almost none, and this section is short for a reason.
You give us no licence over your funds, your keys, your transactions, your device, or anything you hold. We ask for no rights over anything of yours, because the application never sends us anything to have rights over.
The only permission involved is the one the app store grants you: a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the application on devices you control. You may not sell it, sublicense it, or distribute a modified version of it as ours.
06Your keys, your recovery phrase, and what we cannot do
This is the most important clause in this document. Read it once, carefully.
Your recovery phrase is generated on your device. It is stored in your device's secure storage. It is never transmitted to us, and we hold no copy of it.
If you lose your recovery phrase and lose access to your device, your funds are permanently and irretrievably lost.
- We cannot recover them.
- Nobody can recover them.
- There is no password reset, no account restoration, no identity check, no support escalation and no legal process that will bring them back.
This is not a limitation chosen for convenience. It is the direct and unavoidable consequence of a wallet in which only you hold the keys — and it is the same property that makes it impossible for us, or for anyone who compromises us, to take your funds. The protection and the risk are one fact seen from two sides.
We will never ask you for your recovery phrase. Anyone who does — in any channel, however convincingly they present themselves as Blockwright — is trying to rob you.
07What Blockwright Wallet is not
- It is not a bank, a payment institution, an exchange, a broker, a custodian, an investment firm or a money transmitter.
- It is not a deposit account. No deposit-protection or investor-compensation scheme applies to anything you hold in it.
- It does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Nothing in the application or in any material we publish is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
- It does not insure you against loss.
You alone are responsible for determining and paying any tax arising from your use of cryptocurrency. We provide no tax reporting.
08Risks you accept
By using the application you acknowledge that:
- Cryptocurrency prices are volatile and you may lose money, including all of it.
- Transactions are irreversible — a mistyped address is a permanent loss.
- Networks can congest, fork, reorganise or fail, and fees can rise sharply without warning.
- Software can contain defects, including in this application, in the libraries it uses, and in the networks it talks to.
- The third-party services named in section 3 of the Privacy Policy can be unavailable, can return wrong data, or can be compromised. A balance shown in the application is what such a service reported; the blockchain is the only authority.
- Regulation can change in ways that affect your ability to use the application or to hold what it keeps keys for.
09Disclaimers
The application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that any information it displays is accurate or current.
Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. Where that is so, this section applies as far as the law permits and no further, and nothing in this document limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
10Limits on liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Loss of cryptocurrency or of access to it, however caused — including loss of a recovery phrase, compromise of your device, or a transaction you sent in error.
- Loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, data or anticipated savings.
- Indirect or consequential loss of any kind.
- The acts, omissions or failures of blockchain networks, node operators, app stores or any other third party.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the application — which is zero, because the application is free.
11Suspension and termination
You may stop using the application at any time by deleting it. Delete it only once your recovery phrase is written down, because deleting the application removes the keys from your device.
We cannot suspend or terminate your wallet. It does not run on anything of ours, it has no account attached, and we hold no switch that affects it. That is the point of it. We can stop publishing new versions; if we ever do, the application you already have keeps working and your keys remain yours.
12Changes to the application and to these terms
We are building this in public. Features will appear, change and occasionally be removed. When these terms change, the version number and effective date at the top change and the change is recorded below. Material changes are announced on the Telegram channel before they take effect. Continuing to use the application after that means you accept the revised terms.
13Disputes and applicable law
The application is offered worldwide and free of charge, by an individual rather than a company. We do not impose a choice of foreign law or a distant forum on you: doing that to a consumer is unenforceable in much of the world and unfair everywhere.
If you have a complaint, write to legal@blockwright.dev first — most things are settled that way. If a dispute cannot be settled, it is governed by the mandatory law of the country where you live and may be brought before the courts of that country. Any mandatory consumer protection you enjoy at home applies regardless of anything in this document.
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
